Welcome to Room 6's Website!
My name is Jessica Cochran, and I am a third generation educator, having followed my mother and grandfather into the field. I was born and raised in Sonoma County, attending Santa Rosa High School, then Sonoma State University for my bachelor’s degree and Master of Education. I have been teaching at Taylor Mountain Elementary School since it opened in 2007, where I have taught first grade the past six years. In 2013, I successfully completed the National Board certification process, during which I grew tremendously as a teacher.
I absolutely love teaching and I am passionate about helping my students achieve their greatest potential, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. I believe in mentoring to my students, leading by example, modeling, and scaffolding, while keeping an open mind and heart to their academic lives. I present a curriculum that encompasses the interests and needs of all children, while meeting state standards.
When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, exercise, photography, and spending time with family and friends. During the summer, my husband and I love to travel around the world, seeing new sights and learning more about global history and culture.
My classroom is always open to family, friends, and community members…We love volunteers! Strong parent-teacher relationships and communication is very important to me, so please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am available before and after school and by appointment. You can also send a note with your child to school, leave a message for me through the front office at (707) 542-3671, or email me at [email protected]. I look forward to working with you throughout the school year.
